2017 Casa Lapostolle 'Clos Apalta,' Chile 750ml

"2017 was a very warm year in Chile's Central Valley, and that was very advantageous for the house's style of wines, especially, for the classic Clos Apalta, which celebrates its first 20 years with this vintage, always under the command of the Pomerol consultant, Michel Rolland. The essence of the style has not changed and has always been based on old carmenere vines from Apalta. This year it’s 48% carmenere, 26% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, and 1% petit verdot. It may no longer have the tremendous alcohol levels of its early years or the intense extraction of the past, but it does, however, have almost the same sense of lushness and opulence, especially in a warm year like 2017.
