2018 Louis Brochet, les Plantes Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru, Champagne 750ml

100% Chardonnay

Producer Note: For this single varietal, we select our best Chardonnays from Les Vouagnes plots located in Ecueil and Le Mont Benoit located in Villers aux Noeuds, classified as Premier Cru of the Montagne de Reims. On these clay-limestone soils with partial grassing, we lead a committed and reasoned viticulture.

This cuvée is made up of 100% wines from 2018. It is vinified in temperature-controlled vats combined with a little touch of oak barrel. Freshness, lightness and finesse are highlighted here by an extra brut final dosage. After being bottled (on cork with staple) in April 2019, this cuvée has aged for more than 4 years in the cellar.

The Brochet name bounds around the region of Champagne and beyond. But not this one. Until now. Having tasted several hundred wines during an exhausting trip to Champagne, we came across this magic producer and the wine jumped out of the glass at us. Based in the village of Ecueil in the north west of the region, they produce masterfully juicy, rich wines from their ample 13 hectare holdings. They hold both VD and HVE and you sense that honesty, thought and precision in their wines.
